What Should Be On Your Bucket List Of Things To Do While On A Tanzania Safari Adventure?
There’s few
places on planet where you can come eye to eye with the greatest
animals that walk our planet… one of this places, perhaps the best one
is Tanzania. The country is blessed with some of the most beautiful
landscapes on earth, the perfect beach of Zanzibar, the iconic
Kilimanjaro and of course the wild savannas of Africa. Having traveled
with one of the leading Tanzania safari companies here is my guide on what should you be doing on your next Tanzania safari.
Don’t miss the Big 5:
If
you’re traveling all the way to Tanzania for the first ever time then
there is no doubt that one of the thing you’ll wish to do is witness the
Big 5 — the 5 creatures that are believed to be the toughest to hunt on
foot. This exceedingly coveted group encompasses the leopard, African
elephant, café buffalo, lion and the every so subtle rhino.
See a kneeling warthog:
Well,
warthogs are the easiest to discover while on a Tanzania safari, but I
only witnessed one that was kneeling on its front legs. This posture is
used for eating grasses on the low ground, because their legs are long
and necks are short. They’ve adapted wonderfully by creating calloused
kneepads.
Get aerial on a hot air balloon:
Just
imagine how interesting it’d be to witness the vastness of Serengeti
National Park from a hot air balloon! Well, Serengeti Balloon safari
will have you floating high in the sky where you can see wildlife form
an absolutely different perspective.
Go birdwatching:
The
best experience for me during my Tanzania safari was the amazing host
of birds that can be witnessed almost any time of the year. With more
than one thousand species, some of them you may be able to see are the
Malachite Kingfisher, Grey Crowned Crane, Nubian Woodpecker and
Red-and-Yellow Barbet. I hardly have any idea why people love bird
watching until touring to Tanzania.
See a hippo pool:
You
will possibly stumble upon a hippopotamus or two on your safari game
drive, but what is more unique is to see a group of active hippos
sloshing about in the water. At the Hippo Pool in Central Serengeti it’s
possible to encounter up to a remarkable 200 hippos at a time.
Stare Into The Eyes Of A Long Tusked Elephant:
African
elephants can be seen in plenty on a Tanzania safari, but I only saw
the long Tusked version in Gnorongoro crater. Their tusks grow longer
than its normal siblings because of the calcium found in the grass in
that region.
